1)      What is your Author name; use your Pen name if you have one:

Wes Cambron

2)      What is your genre and what drew you to it?

Urban Fantasy is my genre, interchangeable with the more commercial term contemporary fantasy. I prefer the nomenclature urban fantasy since that’s what it is. Fantasy in a city. I’ve always loved the idea that there’s something more in my city than what you would see. Even when I was a screenwriter/filmmaker, I played with the idea that the city holds magic and not just the Disney kind.

3)      How did you come up with your cover design?

My publisher, Rowan Prose Publishing, came up with the covers and funny enough, my main contribution is the weapon of choice (baseball bat, black classic Mustang, ect) for each book. Fun fact, My protagonist Damien hates portal magic, yet that’s the first thing you see is a portal in front of the city of Orlando. So in a way, we sort of continued the time honored tradition that Jim Butcher did with his Dresden Files (Harry Dresden would never wear a hat).

4)      How far along are you on your current work-in-progress?

I have two WIPs right his second. I am halfway rewriting a short story for this urban fantasy anthology I’m in called Arcane Awakenings. As well as the second chapter of book four of the Unbalanced Saga, my main series.

5)      Do you challenge yourself to writing sprints? If so, how long are they?

Any day I’m not working my day job is a writing sprint. My best, uninterrupted time was three hours of pure writing. However, I have a husky and a border collie who thinks he’s a husky so my writing sprints get interrupted frequently by something furry.

6)      What is your favorite part about being a writer?

Readers reactions. My wife is my alpha reader, who literally reads my chapters moments after they’re written. Seeing her reaction, then my beta and ARC reader’s reactions fuel me as much as coffee. One of my favorite reactions is when my PA, Aaron Jones, read book three of the Unbalanced Saga, Unbalanced & Uncharted, and swore off gingerbread.

7)      How much description do you give to your book characters?

I want them to feel real, not just words on a page. I base everyone on either a physical trait or a character trait of someone I know. When I was a filmmaker, I had the privilege of working with actors and a crew to bring my imaginary friends to life. Now, I have to use my words. I want the reader to see things cinematically.

8)   Who would you cast as your most recent Main Character if your book became a movie or T.V. show?

Adrian Greensmith would kill it as Damien Wulfman. I loved him in Metal Lords and think he might tackle the challenge of being an ADHD ridden human raised by werewolves well. Other than that, I’m open as long as Seth Rogan produces (IYKYK).

9)   What was your favorite childhood book?

Welcome to Horrorland, the Goosebumps novel, holds a special place in my heart. Oh and the Bartimus trilogy by Johnathan Stroud! I still haven’t read a book where footnotes were used in such a way.

10)   Name one book that you have reread several times.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Junkyard Druid by MD Massey. Both have heavily influenced my own writing.

11)   Do you prefer to read series or independent novels?

Urban fantasy is a haven for series, so I love reading series. I’m still upset my literary best friend and fellow publishing sibling Rikki Goodwin will never write a sequel to Ghost Glasses.

12)   If you could live in any “book world” what would that be?

Ella Outlaw’s Magical Bookshop. Enter the shop, hang out with a cool cat that may or not actually talk, and then pick up your favorite genre and BAM! I’m the protagonist? Make me a werewolf and hold the moon!

13)   What is your favorite quote and why?

It can’t rain all the time. From The Crow. Ever since I was a grungy teenager it made me stop and tear up. Might get it tattooed on me somewhere.

14)   What is the name of your book/series? Tell me a little bit about them.

The Unbalanced Saga is the series name, and it’s centered around Damien Wulfman, a human raised by werewolves, set here in Orlando, Florida. Book one is Unbalanced & Unprepared. This is where the story begins, Damien is tasked to investigate a nightclub owned by vampires where tourists are going missing. So, while he has to enforce the rules and keep a bloodbath from hitting the streets of Orlando, he meets Emma, a Valkyrie who thinks he’s a dweeb. And he can’t stop thinking of her.

Book two, Unbalanced & Unemployed (Releasing Nov 17, 2026), is set a few months after the events of book one. Damien strikes it out on his own. Kind of. The secret shadow government people hired him to infiltrate the troll fighting rings under the bridges of Central Florida Parkway, to gain info. And he gets more info than he can handle…

Book three is my most unhinged book yet. Unbalanced & Uncharted (set to release May 25, 2027) takes Damien and his stoner werewolf brother Dave to New Orleans! I’m not going into detail on the reasoning but things get… wild.

Currently working on book four, Unbalanced & Unhinged, now.

15)   Do you have a website? If so, what is it?

As of right now, I’m just a social media vagrant. I need to invest into one.

16)   Where can we find and follow you? (Name your social media platforms.)

@Writing_WesCambron or simply @writingwescambron on all the major platforms. Facebook, IG, TikTok are my main three. I’m even on Fable!

17)   If there anything important that you would want my readers to know about you?

If you see me at the theme parks or at a local wrestling show, say hi. I’m a book bro above all and I will be happy to take time out to chat and give book recs (my wife spends her entire day reading romance so I even got some romance recs).
