1)       What is your Author name; use your Pen name if you have one.

Ben Logsdon

2)        What is your genre and what drew you to it?

I write sci-fi and urban fantasy. I like both because the contemporary (or futuristic) setting of both allows me to use more modern humor and relatable plot scenarios.

3)        Do you prefer writing dialogue, action or other scenes?

Action is my greatest forte, though I really enjoy writing dialogue too.

4)        How did you come up with your cover design?

I’ve always loved the visuals of a picture inside a picture. That said, the cover of Memoirs of a Household Demon evokes both a familiar and yet mysterious take on suburban America.

5)        What is the hardest challenge in being a writer?

Marketing, hands down. Writing skills come with practice and editing is often a collaborative process, but marketing requires both reach and money. Both of which tend to fall outside an author’s skill set. Unfortunately, without marketing, though, no one will find out about our books.

6)        How much description do you give to your book characters?

In Memoirs of a Household Demon, I have very limited physical descriptions. In the sequel, though, Vengeance of a Fallen Angel, the descriptions are much more dynamic and abundant.

7)        If you had to write in any other genre, what would that be and why?

I think epic fantasy would be interesting. I’m a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, and I love the concept of magic, so I don’t feel it would be a hard stretch for me to shift from urban to epic.

8)        What was your favorite childhood book?

I was a big fan of the Animorphs books. Can’t decide on just one though.

9)        Name one book that you have reread several times.

World War Z. The book is made up of multiple short stories and all of them are fantastically written.

10)   Do you prefer to read series or independent novels?

I usually like to read a series over a standalone. I get invested in the characters and love to see more of their story.

11)   If you could live in any “book world” what would that be?

Not sure. Book worlds are usually fun to visit, but they all have hazards that would make it really had to survive, realistically speaking. If I had to pick, maybe Middle-earth? But I’d want to live as an elf. Not a human or any of the lesser species. Lol

12)   What is your favorite book turned T.V. show/movie and why?

One of my favorite adaptations is Ender’s Game. The special effects were fantastic and I’ve always been a fan of Harrison Ford.

13)  What is the name of your book/series? Tell me a little bit about them.

My urban fantasy series is called Gray Spirits. All of the books take place in modern California and follow the demon Yuriel in a world where the spirits of Heaven and Hell battle for influence over humanity. The first book is called Memoirs of a Household Demon and focuses on how Yuriel began his quest for redemption and reinstatement as an angel. The second book, Vengeance of a Household Demon, continues two weeks after the first book and chronicles Yuriel’s journey as a self-proclaimed gray spirit. The prequel novella, Prelude of a Guardian Angel, is set 8 years before Memoirs and follows the angel Sarai from the first book.

14)  Do you have a website? If so, what is it?

Yup, my website is www.rednovabooks.com

15)  Where can we find and follow you? (Name your social media platforms.)

I go by @rednovabooks on Instagram, TikTok, and Threads. I’m also on Facebook as Red Nova Books.

16)  If there anything important that you would want my readers to know about you?

If you’re looking for epic stories with a mix of comedy, action, and plenty of heart, then give my Gray Spirits series a peek.
